Amino IV delivers BCAAs, EAAs, electrolytes, and taurine.

Since 2013 we have understood the importance of consuming EAAs alongside BCAAs, and through our careful processes have designed the flavors to be extremely refreshing and thirst quenching.

Amino IV is most often used during training sessions, whether it be as a source of electrolytes to stay hydrated in place of a typical carbohydrate-loaded sports drink, or as a source to stimulate muscle protein synthesis via the amino acids.

  • Amino Acid Fuel Source

Whether you're performing long endurance training or gym sessions lasting over 90 minutes of intense exercise, amino acids are a great fuel source to stimulate muscle protein synthesis. We use a combination of BCAAs at a 2:1:1 ratio alongside all 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) so your working muscles are primed for recovery.

  • Hydration Source

While most electrolyte blends are designed only for purpose of replenishing what's lost in sweat, ours also focuses on what's important for intense muscle contraction during weight training. Our electrolyte blend features significant amounts of highly-bioavailable magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium, and phosphorus.

  • Refreshing & Quenching

While our formula speaks for itself, it only can be enjoyed every day if we make it delicious to drink. Each and every flavor is designed to be refreshing and thirst quenching with a perfect balance of flavor and sweetness that never gets boring or overwhleming. Keep every flavor on hand for every flavor mood.

Amino IV: The Complete Essential Amino Acid Solution

There are hundreds of amino acids found in nature, but only 20 that make up the thousands of different proteins in your body.

Nine of these are essential amino acids (EAAs), meaning your body cannot make them, so you must get them through your diet.

Of the nine EAAs, three are branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) — leucine, isoleucine, and valine.

These BCAAs are crucial for building new muscle proteins through a process called muscle protein synthesis. However, their efficacy is limited when the other EAAs are absent.

Understanding this, PEScience formulated Amino IV to provide all EAAs, along with electrolytes and taurine to support hydration and exercise performance.

Explore the ingredients in each serving of Amino IV and discover how this advanced formula boosts muscle gains, accelerates recovery, and enhances hydration.

Amino IV: What's Under the Lid

Each serving of Amino IV delivers a powerful dose of EAAs, including BCAAs, along with essential electrolytes and taurine.

BCAAs

The BCAAs include leucine, isoleucine, and valine. "Branched chain" refers to their chemical structure.

Among the BCAAs, leucine is believed to be the one that "switches on" muscle protein synthesis, particularly when consumed as a supplement, making it the star of the trio (1).

Each serving of Amino IV provides 5 grams of the BCAAs in a 2:1:1 ratio to provide 2.5 grams of leucine — more than enough to stimulate muscle protein synthesis — and 1.25 grams of isoleucine and valine.

Ancillary EAAs

While the BCAAs play a special role in building muscle, they are largely ineffective unless the remaining EAAs are present.

To this point, studies suggest that BCAAs consumed alone can't create an anabolic state if the remaining EAAs aren't present. Consuming BCAAs alone forces the body to break down muscle protein to obtain the remaining EAAs since the body can't make them, limiting muscle protein synthesis (MPS) (2).

However, it's possible that consuming BCAAs alone can improve the efficiency of recycling the remaining EAAs from muscle protein breakdown to build new muscle proteins. But even then, the rate of MPS can’t exceed 15%. Compare this with the 30% increase that can be achieved when all EAAs are consumed (2).

Fortunately, Amino IV provides the remaining six EAAs — threonine, lysine, phenylalanine, methionine, histidine, and tryptophan to ensure maximum MPS.

Electrolytes and Taurine

Electrolytes are essential for life, regulating blood pH, facilitating muscle contractions and nerve impulses, and maintaining fluid balance.

Athletes and otherwise active individuals generally require more electrolytes than others because they can lose electrolytes in sweat during exercise and in hot weather.

To support electrolyte balance and hydration, Amino IV provides highly bioavailable forms of calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium.

It also provides the amino acid taurine, which also helps maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance in cells. Moreover, taurine has strong antioxidant properties and has been shown to improve aerobic and anaerobic exercise performance and decrease exercise-induced muscle damage (3, 4, 5).

More recent research suggests that taurine supports thermoregulation by allowing the body to better maintain its core temperature during exercise in hot environments (6).

Who Can Benefit from Amino IV?

Amino IV is designed for active individuals looking to build muscle, enhance recovery, and support hydration.

Its inclusion of all the EAAs — not just the BCAAs — makes it 100% more effective for supporting MPS than products that contain BCAAs alone. EAAs can also decrease muscle protein breakdown during exercise as well as markers of muscle damage like creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase (7, 8).

Therefore, if you find yourself constantly sore for days after workouts, taking Amino IV is one nutritional strategy to ease muscle soreness, making it easier to get back to the gym for your next workout (9).

Moreover, Amino IV's inclusion of essential electrolytes and taurine makes it a no-brainer to support hydration, strong muscle contractions, heat tolerance, and exercise performance.

How to Take Amino IV

Each container of Amino IV provides 30, two-scoop servings. To take Amino IV, mix it in 12–20 ounces of water. You can adjust how much water you use to change the strength of the flavor.

Amino IV comes in five delicious flavors, including Strawberry Lemonade, Orange Dreamsicle, Sour Green Apple, Raspberry Grape, and Black Cherry.

It’s best taken during workouts or athletic events to support hydration and exercise performance but you can always take additional servings throughout the day, including on rest days.

Amino IV is not intended to replace quality protein sources like whey, which provides all 20 amino acids, including the nine essential amino acids.

But it's a great addition to your supplement stack and may enhance the anabolic effect of whole protein sources, especially when the overall amount of protein provided is low.

For example, one study demonstrated that the addition of five grams of BCAAs to a drink containing 6.25 grams of whey protein increases muscle protein synthesis to a similar level induced by 25 grams of whey protein (10).

This suggests that if you can't consume enough protein in a meal to maximize muscle protein synthesis, supplementing with Amino IV can make up the difference.

The Bottom Line

PEScience's Amino IV is different from the typical amino supplement since it provides all EAAs, ensuring your body has the complete profile needed to build and repair muscle effectively.

Amino IV also provides key electrolytes and taurine to support hydration, muscle contractions, and exercise recovery, making it a great product to take around your workouts and on rest days.
