Ceramides
You may recognize ceramides from many skincare products. It is an important skincare product topically and orally. We also use a specific form of ceramides that are beneficial via oral administration to support skin moisture.
-
Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
HA exists in different molecular weights. Some of these are cheaper and used for topicals for their better absorption into skin from the outside, and others are more expensive and better for oral use. We use the patented, vegan, oral form of HA at the clinically researched dose shown to improve dry skin and reduce wrinkles.

Natural Silicon
Silicon/Silica is something we all produce naturally. Starting around the age of 25 however, we all start producing a little less as we age. In a 2014 update on the nutritional importance of silica in the diet, researchers recommend 25 mg/day.
The TLDR on Hair, Skin & Nail Supplements.
Hair, skin, and nail (HSN) products have been around for decades, but all along these products have been formulated with zero purpose. The idea behind every other HSN product is they jam it full of random amounts of vitamins and minerals because your hair, skin, and nails are made up of these vitamins and minerals.
Problem is, these will only improve your hair, skin, or nails if you are deficient in one of the vitamins or minerals. Most of the population is not. Plus, if you are already taking a multivitamin then you absolutely don’t need anything in typical HSN products. The only common vitamin that has shown to be beneficial for larger populations is biotin, which we use at a dose in Renuvia that can be beneficial by itself, but also can still be combined with TruMulti.
A 2016 study showed that 38% of women complaining of hair loss also tested as being biotin deficient, which is quite significant, and why we included in our formula. Back in 1990 a small study was performed showing those supplementing with biotin had significant (25% increase) in nail thickness.

Renuvia: The Better Hair, Skin, and Nails Formula
Maintaining a healthy diet and proper nutrition are crucial for the health and appearance of hair, skin, and nails. To this point, many nutrient deficiencies can be identified based on their appearance.
Fortunately, supplementing your diet with high-quality products can help support overall health and enhance the natural beauty of your hair, skin, and nails.
Dive into PEScience's Renuvia and discover how its advanced formula supports healthy hair, skin, and nails.
Renuvia: A Closer Look at the Ingredients
Here's a detailed look at each ingredient in Renuvia and how it enhances beauty from the inside out.
Biotin
Biotin is also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H. The H comes from Haar and Haut, German for "hair and skin" (1).
It's a water-soluble vitamin that serves as a coenzyme in numerous metabolic processes that affect hair health, including gluconeogenesis (the production of glucose from non-carbohydrate sources), fatty acid synthesis, and amino acid metabolism (2).
For example, gluconeogenesis helps maintain energy levels in cells, including those in hair follicles, and the metabolism of certain amino acids is necessary for the production of keratin, a fibrous protein that helps form the tissues of hair, nails, and the outer layer of the skin.
Owing to these roles, a biotin deficiency commonly leads to skin rashes, hair loss, and brittle nails. Certain people are at risk for developing a deficiency, but most people consume adequate amounts from their diets.
Still, supplementing is a cost-effective and efficient way to ensure optimal levels to support healthy hair, skin, and nails.
Very high intakes of biotin can interfere with common laboratory tests used to measure levels of vitamin D and thyroid hormone, producing false or abnormal results. Renuvia, however, provides a much lower dose than what has been shown to interfere with these tests (3).
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide widely distributed in the connective tissue extracellular matrix, a complex network of proteins, glycoproteins, and other macromolecules that help maintain the integrity, strength, and function of connective tissues (4).
It helps maintain skin hydration by attracting and retaining moisture in the extracellular matrix, keeping it plump, supple, and well-hydrated. Hyaluronic acid also strengthens the skin's barrier function to protect it from environmental stressors and prevent transepidermal water loss.
Furthermore, it supports the production and maintenance of collagen, helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by maintaining the skin's firmness and elasticity (5).
By attracting and retaining moisture in the extracellular matrix, hyaluronic acid also keeps the scalp hydrated, making it less prone to dryness, flakiness, and irritation. Retaining moisture in the hair shaft also makes the hair appear smoother and shinier.
The moisture-retention effects of hyaluronic acid extend to nail health by keeping the nail bed and surrounding skin hydrated.
Renuvia provides a high-quality branded form of hyaluronic acid that is more rapidly absorbed than the conventional form.
Silicon
Derived from naturally occurring quartz, silicon is the most abundant mineral in the earth's crust. It's also naturally found in certain plant-based foods, especially cereals like rice, oats, and barley.
It's the third most abundant trace element in the body where it's widely distributed in connective tissues, such as skin, nails, hair, tendons, and bones (6).
Silicon is important for optimal collagen synthesis and activating hydroxylation enzymes to improve skin strength and elasticity (7).
With regards to hair, it has been suggested that a higher silicon content in the hair fiber decreases hair loss while increasing brightness.
Nails are also affected by silicon since it’s the predominant mineral in their composition.
While found in various foods, some research suggests that a diet rich in silicon doesn't result in sufficient bioavailable amounts of the mineral that would lead to a beneficial increase in the body's tissues (7).
Fortunately, Renuvia provides highly bioavailable silicon from bamboo stem extract.
Ceramides
Ceramides are epidermal lipids important for skin barrier function. They help prevent water loss and protect from foreign insults, such as the invasion of microorganisms (8).
Declines in skin ceramides are associated with aging as well as certain skin conditions, including atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, and this decrease is considered to be a factor in the dry skin and decreased barrier function seen with these conditions (9, 10).
While the body produces ceramides, and they are found naturally in certain foods, supplementing them can improve skin barrier function and replenish skin ceramides to increase skin hydration.
To this point, a review of 11 trials with over 600 people demonstrated that supplementation with ceramides in doses ranging from 0.4 to 30 mg for six to 20 weeks significantly improved the water content of the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin that helps maintain the skin's barrier and prevents cracking (11).
Renuvia provides 40 mg of high-quality ceramides from rice.
The Bottom Line
PEScience's Renuvia offers carefully picked ingredients intended to support healthy hair, skin, and nails from the inside out.
To supplement it, take one capsule daily with or without food. Most studies demonstrate hair, skin, and nail benefits after at least six weeks of daily supplementation with the nutrients found in Renuvia but greater benefits can be seen with longer periods of supplementation.
